Welcome
I make earthenware and stoneware pieces in a variety of glazes that are fired using gas and electric kilns. Most of my pottery is thrown and turned on an electric wheel, but I have been known to hand model, slab build or use the occasional coil to construct clay vessels and objects.
My ceramics
I produce the following kind of products in stoneware and earthenware clays.
- Vases
- Teapots
- Bowls
- Sculptures
Examples of my recent products can be found on my Ceramic Wares page.
I am available for commissions and can produce a beautiful bespoke ceramic piece that would make an ideal gift or functional or decorative object for the home. I am based in London and can be contacted at i_saunders@hotmail.com.
Oriental influence
Japan, the Japanese language and Japanese pottery have been an abiding interests of mine for over 10 years. I lived in Japan for 3 years and visit regularly. There are sections of this webpage that:
- feature pages about Japanese pottery styles, techniques and potters
- include Japanese language resources to help build an adequate technical vocabulary
These section include Japanese kanji and romaji and your browser needs to be capable of showing these characters.
Blog
Finally, I occasionally add a post to the website when I visit an interesting exhibition or come across something that worths noting. These posts can be found in date order or by choosing a category or tag cloud member from the menu on the right.
I hope you enjoy the site or find it interesting.
